Just Don't Talk
That's my message to all of the local and national weather people. Do I have to remind you what happened last time there was supposed to be a major snow storm?
That's right...Nothing.
How much effort does it take to get a weather forecast right? The age old question. And this time when I talk about meteorology I'm going to mention the TV station that said it.
WSET 13 in Roanoke and Lynchburg was the first to predict this storm Sunday when all the other stations were saying it would be clear all week. Looking at the weather map it was obvious that a system was going to move across to us...But only 13 actually said that. Now that The Weather Channel is jumping on board, WSLS 10 and WDBJ 7 are saying it too.
All of them are saying 3 to 5 inches...Guess what? It's not going to be that...Or anything like that. We're going to have the same wintry mix we've always had this year. No worse, no better.

Weather Channel Radar as of 1:48PM
Jamey Singleton on 10 was trying to explain why he was so far off with last weekend's storm. He gave a stupid explanation about how the snow tracker radar was only used to see what's going on now...But Jamey, don't you have a million other radars and that new Vipir system?...Surely one of those computers will tell you what's going to happen.
In 2005 if we can't predict the weather 5 hours before it starts, I'm amazed we're all still living.
