Drummond v. Broyles

I got another letter in the mail from the woman's lawyer today. It reads...
Re: Teresa Drummond, et al. v. Elliot Broyles
Roanoke City General District Court
Return Date: August 31, 2007
Dear Mr. Broyles:

The purpose of this letter is to confirm that the above-referenced matter was continued until 9:00 a.m. on October 9, 2007 in the Roanoke City General District Court.

I thank you for your attention to this matter

Very truly yours,
Law Office of James P. Cargill, P.C.
Isn't there some way I can make this go away now since I wasn't the one who hit their car and I can prove it. Why continue to waste my time if you know I didn't do it?

If you're reading this, and you're a lawyer, please tell me how to take care of this situation.

Elliott, I am not a lawyer, but am a paralegal. This is not my area of expertise, so I can only advise you to see an attorney. Make the time. A lot of them will give you a free consultation.

If you do not choose to see one (though believe me, you will get a better response from Mr. Cargill if you have an attorney contact him, or if your insurance company does) you MUST go to court on the 9th. You should go prepared with a DMV report listing all vehicles titles in your name, which will show that one of them is not a Ford F150. As well, if you can, go back and make a documented list of teh times you tried to or succeeded in contacting Mr. Cargill. You will want to show the GDC judge taht you tried to resolve it before it got before him. See if you can get the date of the alleged hit-and-run so you can determine and have a sworn affadavit by someone telling where you were that day instead.

They are going through GDC to try to get a monetary judgment against you, but as long as you show it couldn't have been you, and unless they have changed their story, you should be fine.

1st & best advice though, go see an attorney.
